Maternity Photography Portraits

I absolutely love photographing expectant mothers, I am in awe of what the female body is able to do. There is such a unique beauty to women when they are pregnant. My maternity photography celebrates women of all shapes and sizes and captures the beauty and love that shines from all pregnant women. My maternity sessions are all about making you feel special and giving you a bit of ‘me time’ to really celebrate and focus on this wonderful new life that is about to be born.

Your Questions and Answers

How long does the session last?

My maternity sessions are between 1.5-2 hours long.

When is the best time during pregnancy for a maternity photography session?

Typically 30-32 weeks is a good time to book it in, however the most important thing is your bump is nice and round and you are not too exhausted by the time of the session.

When is the best time of day for a maternity photography session?

I’m a natural light portrait photographer and to get soft, dreamy lighting which will make your photographs extra special, I shoot at sunrise or sunset.

Where do the maternity photography sessions take place?

I photograph both outside on location or I can come to your home.

Outside on location: I often photograph at Marble Hill Park in Twickenham or Barnes common, but I am also open to other locations if you have one in mind.

At home: Photographing at your home can produce wonderfully intimate and candid photographs. Prior to the session, I will set up a preparatory call to find out about your house layout, which rooms get the best light and talk through the style of the shoot.

What happens before the photography session?

To help me plan for the session and ensure you get the right style of portraits for you, I will ask you to fill out a questionnaire to find out more about you and your family and uncover any requirements you have.

We will also have a preparatory video call before the session.  Where we can run through any questions you may have, talk through how I run the session, discuss styling and most importantly so you can meet me virtually.  Meeting (virtually) prior to the session will help you get to know me, I’m pretty easy going and this should help make you feel much more at ease when we meet for the actual photography session.

What should I wear to the session?

I will have a preparatory call with you to talk about clothing, colours and styles that work well. I will share a style guide with you to help you when thinking about what to wear and what will make the photographs pop.  The main thing though, is that you feel comfortable in what you are wearing, as that will shine through in the photographs.

Who should come to the session?

Whoever you would like to be there!  It really depends on you and what you need, sessions range from expectant mothers who’d like a session on their own, sessions with both parents and the bump, or sometimes a session with the whole family. Whatever works for you!

I want to ensure the whole experience leaves you feeling calm, relaxed and gives you some space to celebrate what is about to come.

How long after the session will it take to see the photographs?

Your images will be available to view on your online gallery within 6 weeks of the session.
